The Muskingum County Help Me Grow and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department offers two FREE HOME VISITS to assist new moms in Muskingum County. The goal of these visits is to ease the worries many parents feel when bringing a new infant into their home. These two programs provide a friendly professional service of the highest quality in the comfort of your own home. And best of all, It is FREE.
Newborn Home Visitation
To ease the worries many new parents feel, our post-partum home visitation program brings a skilled nurse into your home within a week of your baby's arrival.
Our nurse will contact you at the hospital and will come to your house at a time convenient to you. The visit provides an opportunity to get answers about the care of your newest family member.
Education information about nutrition, immunizations, and the baby's development will be included. There is NO CHARGE for this service.
Welcome Home
"Welcome Home" is a Program that allows our nurse to visit your home again about four or five weeks after the Newborn Visit or your return home from the hospital.
Now that you have lived with the baby for a month, more day-to-day routine questions have probably popped up. "How many times a day should the baby be filling a diaper?", or "Is his circumcision healing right?", and so on.
Our nurse comes with a bag full of helpful information, free goodies for you and your baby, and the medical knowledge to answer your questions. We can also make referrals to other agencies we work with, such as Community Action and WIC.
"Welcome Home" is one piece of the Help Me Grow Program and the Ohio Family and Children First Initiative.
